The first issue of Early Times was published in 1860 in Early Times Station, Kentucky. Kentucky water is ideal for creating whisky because it is naturally filtered by limestone springs, resulting in a mineral-rich product that adds flavour and improves fermentation. When Prohibition occurred in 1920, Early Times was classed as a "medicinal whisky," allowing it to be exempt from the legislation. Early Times was purchased by the Brown-Forman Company in 1923, and during the next 30 years, it became the best-selling whisky in the country. Its smoothness is now enjoyed in more than 40 nations. The alcohol by volume (ABV) is 37.1%
