America is home to an array of distinctive hats, including baseball caps, Stetsons and even whoopee caps. Why are we talking about American headwear? Because the Peaky Blinder range now features a bourbon whiskey, of course! The connection is pretty clear, what with the name coming from a gang who apparently modified their hats to be used as weapons and bourbon being... Well, American. Anyway, this is a rather tasty and good value-for-money bourbon produced in Indiana for the Peaky Blinder range, which should do well for a variety of classic cocktails. Nose: Honey and buttered corn, with underlying stone fruit hints.

Four Roses Single Barrel is aged for at least seven years in a newly charred American white oak barrel. A barrel is selected only when it has developed the spicy character, floral nose and slightly dry delicate finish that is Bourbon at its natural best. Each bottle approximately 248 per barrel, is hand-filled and numbered. The series of numbers on the back label telly you when the whiskey was put in the barrel and the date it was bottled. This assures you of the singular source at the Four Roses Distillery and gives you the opportunity to compare Bourbon from different barrels and years. By its very nature, no two barrels create identical tasting bourbons.

Four original and limited Bourbon recipes have been expertly selected by the Master Distiller at the peak of maturation to create a perfectly balanced Small Batch Bourbon that rewards you with a mellow symphony of rich, spicy flavors along with sweet, fruity aromas and hints of sweet oak and caramel. Finishes soft, smooth and pleasantly long. Best enjoyed straight up, on the rocks or with a splash. 90 proof. 45% alcohol/volume. Nose: Spicy, rich, mellow, fruity, hints of sweet oak & caramel. Palate: Creamy, mellow, ripened red berries, rich, spicy, well-balanced, moderately sweet.

It has a strong smoked single malt Whisky front followed by a smooth finish. Something quite special and tricky to make.

Hog’s is an authentic Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that takes its classic texture and sweet taste from the freshwater springs that have filtered through the limestone shelf that runs through the Southern States of America. The deep red colour comes from the charred barrels in which it has aged. This process was introduced in the early 1800’s as a means of disinfecting the barrels to ensure no contamination of the spirit. Once used the barrels are never reused by Law for the maturation of Bourbon.
